Simply Sassy Round 2

Well, I told you all before I made it to Round 2 in the Simply Sassy competition and I've finally made my card. I was waiting, hoping, I would get my new stamps I ordered, but they never came yesterday and I could wait no more. This time around we were asked to 'show our style'. Well if you frequent my blog you know I'm an eclectic cardmaker just going by what moves me at the time. I don't often do lots of layers and I like to try new colors, but I probably do more pink than anything. I love glitter and pearls and almost always have a few flowers. With that in mind, here is my card...

I really had a fun time making this vintage card the other day and I'd decided this 'Fairytale' image would probably look great in that style. I had some particular papers in mind, but after I'd gotten her colored up they didn't match well enough for me...I am adamant about matching colors, it's a must for me...So, I searched out papers and found these MME papers to be perfect!
I've actually made this an easel card, but I find they don't photograph well, so I'm showing it second. I've combined a couple of different trims for that lacy look under her...I don't think the pics do it justice as the lace it quite beautiful. As you can see this is not vintage, more Shabby Chic, but I think it's relatively close to my original idea.
Here's a close-up. The shading around her is done with chalks and is a mixture of baby blue on the outer edges and yellow in the middle. The flowers were colored with copics to match and I've put a few buttons in the arrangement.
Well, I think that about covers it. I hope you like my card and if I make it two Round 3 it's going to be public voting so I will need your help. Hope you all have a great day and be sure to check out the other girls cards as they are all fabulous!
Thanks for stopping by!

Southern Girls Challenge#8

Hey all! It's time again for another challenge over at Southern Girls. This week we want to see something Vintage. I know some of you girls are really good with this, so I bet we'll see some amazing creations. Vintage is NOT my forte`, but here's my best shot...

This image was given to the DT to use and it's form Whimsey Stamps(Crissy Armstrong). At first glance she seemed easy enough to color, but looks can be deceiving as I had a really hard time with her.YOu can see(hopefully) that all my papers are distressed and I used a Tim Holtz distressing tool for that...so much easier than using the scissors, lol

Here's a close-up of the girl. I'm still not happy with the coloring, but sometimes you just gotta let it go,lol

Close up of the left side. Idk if buttons are vintage, but they worked for me, hope it's ok. The pretty flowers are Wild Orchid and the buttons are from my stash.

The right side. I did another turned corner with flowers and I think it
accents this layout nicely. A couple more buttons to even things out, lol I don't think I can begin to explain to you how my mind works, but it seemed lopsided to me without the buttons.

Ok ladies and gents that's it for me, but if you wanna try out something vintage and have a chance at:

1) For Int. crafters a superb 5 digital images from their shop
and
2) An awesome prize pack from Mad for Markers the New Zealand/Aus. crafters.

Can't wait to see what you come up with! Hope you all are having a fabulous day and make sure to stop by and see the rest of the DT's wonderful creations!
Thanks for stopping by!

Lexi's Creations #28

Hello all! It's time again for another challenge over at Lexi's and this week we want to see glitter and pearls. The sponsor this week is Fairy Dust Crafts. My DD was sick last night and I'm runing a bit behind with this post, so I'm gonna make it short and sweet. So, here's my card...

I used one of Lexi's new images called Gingerbread house and colored it up with these papers in mind. I've kept the design pretty simple and I put Icicle stickles on the rooftop and the snow on the bottom.

Here's a close-up so you can see the stickles better. This one may have a bit too much white space on the image so I may add a sentiment, but for now I like it.

Well, that's it for now, I gotta tend to my DD. Thanks for stopping by and make sure to check out what the rest of the DT has come up with.

Have a great day!

Creative Inspirations#49

Hello everyone! Seems like ages since I've made a DT post but my vacation home was much needed and I loved seeing my family! Anyway, it's time for another challenge at Creative Inspirations and this week the theme is Anything Goes Chrstmas. I don't know about you all, but I still have so many christmas cards left to be made and the kids teachers gifts, I bet you'll find something you can enter. So, here's my card...

I've used the adorable James the Bear from LOTV and he was sent to me by my dear friend Loz, thanks hun! I also followed the LOTV sketch as I thought is was a nice simple one and I quite like it. The sentiment is a freebie from Bizy Becs, isn' t it fantastic!
Here's a close-up...don't know why the background looks green, but it's not, only the edges. He is of course colored with copics C7-1 and can I say I'm loving this shade of blueB39,26,&24 if your're interested. I decided to go with white flower soft and stickles for the garland.
Our sponsors this week are Stamp and create with a $10 voucher to their store and secondly Soft Pencil who is also giving away a $10 voucher.
Well, I think that about does it. Hope you all have a fabulous Sunday! I'll be baking and getting those teacher gifs done myself.
Thanks for stopping by,
xxAutumn

Simply Sassy:WOW #2

Ok, so, after my card yesterday for the SS competition, I got an idea for another one and had to give it a shot! If you need more info go here. Once again, the prize up for grabs is this...

...and to top that off a spot on the NEW Simply Sassy DT...the grand is nice, but I'd really love that DT spot!! Let's not forget that the finalists also get to chose 12 Sugar Nellie stamps for their very own!!

Ok, here's my card...

The thing I was interested in doing with this image was darker skin and hair, something I really don't do very often. I've colored her with copics E33,13,&11...my first time using this combo, what do you think, does it work?? I will tell you that although I don't do dark skin often I've found it helpful to do the cheeks first...more can be added later if needed, but it offers more control and it works much better for me on dark skin.

She's a little dark here, but the lighting is kind of poor at midnight, lol. I've used the purples V:000, 01, 12,15, & a little 17. I've put stickles on her shoes and a little on her dress and rhinestones were added with my I-rock. The background shading is done with chalk. Ok, well I think that's about it. Thanks for stopping by. Remember to stay tuned in case I make it to the next round cause at some point I may need your votes.
Have a great day!

Simply Sassy Competition Round 1

Hey all! Did you know that Sugar Nellie is having a Simply Sassy only competition?? Well, they are and there are fabulous prizes to be won! The grand prize is this....

Oh' wouldn't you just love that!! Bust wait, that's not all along with that Grand Calibur the winner will receive a spot on the new Simply Sassy DT, Oh' man, I would just love that what a dream DT that's going to be! There's even more though and that's that the other finalists will receive their choice of 12 Sugat Nellie stamps...OMGosh, how awesome is that! If your interested check out all the deets here.
Ok, so, the first round in this competition is WOW(white on white)...you may only color the image and do shading. Since you've already been reading so much I'll get on with it. Here is my card...
Isn't she a beauty!! This Simply Sassy image is called Fairytale..appropriate I think. I love that long flowing hair and those big beautiful eyes all these images have. She is colored with copics, the shading is done with chalks and as you can see all my papers and embellishments are white. The image is also popped up on pop-up dots so she really stands out.

Here's a close-up. I've added some stickles to her shoes and around the boarder to make the layer stand out better.

Pretty flowers from whild orchid.
Spritzed with my own shimmer mix & stickles on the edges
Here's a close-up of the detail I did on scoring my bottom sheet.
Ok, so I think that's it. Somewhere along this competition...asuming I make it that far...there is going to be voting, so if you like this card please stay tuned as the competition continues ansd vote for me if needed.
I should be back up and moving around here soon! My DD got sick as soon as we returned from vacation and then I got Strep Throat this past weekend, so it's been rough. Im still not completely up to par , but I have some crafty things that have to be done and turns out concentration on that helps me not focus on the crummy feeling in my tummy. Anyway, Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!
