Butterflies...

...Don't you just love them?? I know I do, I've always had a fascination with them and when Krista came out with Butterfly Girl I intstantly fell in love with her! I knew right away that I wanted to do something different with her and immediately thought of this...

Ok, well, I didn't immediately think of the whole thing, but the general idea and tho baby girl is a bit young, it's going in her room. She said it was pretty several times while watching me color it, so I'm quite certain she'll enjoy having it in her room.

Here's a pic w/o that shadow box frame and you can see all the coloring that went into this. What was I thinking?? I do not own a an air brusher and I wanted crisp clear colors, so I did all that sky background by hand and let me tell you that was no easy task. I've put her in pink and brown cause those are the main colors in DD's room and the rest of the colors are extras. The background scene is a bunch of merged images from Make it Crafty and those took the better part of a day to put together all by themselves. Other than all of the coloring tho it wasn't too bad...I did work several different flower options, but decided i liked this the best! I'm thinking now she may need some sparkle and I might hang some butterflies from the bottom, but this will have to do for now and we'll see what time will bring.

Well, that's all for today, thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

What's been keeping me busy...

... my first ever wedding invites for my baby sis. Girls, if you haven't done this and are thinking about it BEWARE it is a ton of work!! I worked about 10/12 hrs a day for two weeks on these puppies. You're probably thinking they must be really extravagant, they're not. Pretty, yes(well at least I think so), but it's a very tedious process cutting out all the pieces and taping them and it's vintage themed so they're all distressed and inked...think about the time it takes you to do that to 1 card and mulitply that times 100...now you know what I'm dealing with. Ok, so I'm guessing you wanna see what I'm talking about, so here they are...

This is a tri-fold pocket card with a wrap around band to hold it closed. My sister is having antique keys throughout her wedding so I've placed a key hole on the outside and...

...the key on the inside. Please forgive the little hands...this is not the easiest of cards to photograph.

Here's a closer view of the actual invitation part. My sis sent me the wording she wanted and the little decorative thing and I got the other image from two peas and it's by Rohnna Fahrer...it's acually 12" long, so I just took out he part I liked and made it fit the invite. Sorry, I've whited out their names and wedding info cause I'm not sure she'd want me to broadcast that.

Here's a closer view of the RSVP again designed by myself with a little help from R.F.

Wanted to show you the backside to so I could show off my new personalized stamp from Whimsy. I'm now thinking my web address is a little long, lol, but not much I can do about it now. I didn't think when I began all this that I would actually be selling my stuff...though these were a labour of love...and she better really know I love her now doing all that work for free!!

Lastly, I wanted to mention that as a money saver we purchased paper pads instead of individual sheets of paper and so there are about six different designs to the invitations all using the same basic colors. I think this worked out really well and makes them that much more unique.

Ok, well, sorry for all the pics, but it was kind of necessary. I did want to pass along a few pointers I learned:

1.  Do NOT do all this distressing by hand...purchasing the Zutter distressor was totally worth it!!
2. The distressor can only take so much b4 it gets to hot and shuts itself off...learn your limit and plan accordingly
3. Ink your edges b4 distressing them...maybe you already do this(smart move) I completely destroyed my inkpads.
4. Order a good tape I got Sookwang tape...same people that make the score-pal stuff except you can get it cheaper at 7kids
5. you will probably need way more tape than you think I went thru six rolls and had to order more!

Oh' and my Whimsey stamp worked way better off the spongey backing stuff...my brain is fried right now and I can't think of what to call it,lol.

Alright, I will leave you with that. I hope you've enjoyed my invites and I'll be back here for sure on Wednesday...I'm alredy working on that and it's looking good. It's my birthday tomorrow so I wouldn't expect to see me, but maybe I'll get a little time to do some extra crafting!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Simply Boho and an announcement

Hello lovely people! Today I have the wonderful Boho Chic to share with you and and overdue announcement. First, the announcement...

you won't wanna miss these beauties!! That start time is 3 am CST for those of you and the US. Sorry this is coming so late, hubby's been out of town for almost a week and DD's been sick and I've still been dealing with my Sister's invites so it just slipped my mind to tell you. Ok, now on to the next thing...

...Boho Chic. She was supposed to be on a much more elaborate scale, but turns out the way I colored DID NOT go with the card I already had made up and it was a better option to make a new card rather than a new girl...even if it is a little simple. I like it, but I think I'll like it more once I get some words on there...just couldn't decide on something and it had to be done.

Here's a closer view of her coloring. I do at least like how that turned out. I was going for a sepia effect(accept for her face) and I really like how the colors turned out. Alright well, I guess that's it for now. I'm going to try to post those wedding invites later today and Saturday will be the blog hop with lot's of inspiration and maybe a few prizes along the way!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Rupunzel takes note...

 ...with an altered notebook.

Hello everyone! As you can see I'm still trying to mix it up a little, so for this weeks Simply Sassy inspiration I've made an altered notebook. My mom is always telling me I need to be writing down all the cute, wonderful, funny things my kids do every day and I thought Rupunzel here would be perfect for just that sort of notebook. She actually kid of reminds me of myself in my youth...I had really long blonde hair and since this is for me I also gave her blue eyes like mine.

I love these papers and I'm so going to have to get more. These are from The Girls Paperie-Vintage Whimsy collection and arent they just gorgeous. All the die-cuts are from my new cricut cart Sophisticated and I used a punch to make the notebook paper edge.

Here's a closer view of how I've colored her. I got some new copics recently and I love how her hair turned out! I don't think I'lll be happy until I have all the colors, but I'm a smidge closer now. My kids think I have a lot, but when you look at that color chart it seems like nothing, ugh, why can't money grow on trees??

Well, that's it for today I'll have my sister's finished wedding invites to show you soon. Wow, that's a lot of work...probably wouln't have been so tough if they weren't vintage. I've never done so much distressing and inking in my life!! Anyway, I hope you all have had a wonderful week and have a great weekend!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Southern Girls Challenge#23

Hey all!! It's time again for another challenge over at Southern Girls!! This week we want to see things with a Happy Birthday theme. We have to wonderful sponsors this week and they are Stitchy Bear for Int and The Paper Shelter for Nz/Aus. I was given an adorable image from The Paper Shelter to use so here is...

... 'Cute Little Clown'. I really think this us just adorable and would make for a great CAS card, so I decided to go with that. It's so much more fun to color a clown when you don't have to worry about matching any papers.
Anyway, I colored her up and cut her and her juggling balls out and put them all on dimensional dots on a white background. Then I placed that whole thing on more dimensional stickers, placed a top a border color and added it to a white card. Here's a pic of that dimension...

I added a Happy Birthday sentiment and all done. I haven't done this CAS in a while, so part of me feels like it's missing something, lol, but I think it's pretty good for getting back to my roots.

Well that's all for now, I'll be back tomorrow. Make sure you stop by the Southern Girls blog to see what the rest of the DT had made a get a glimpse of the adorable images you've got a shot at wining.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

2 Sassy's for you

Hello my lovely followers. Today I've got 2 Sassy's to share with you, but first I'd like to say thank you to my regular visitors for stopping by and leaving me such lovely comments. I thought I'd have more time when summer came around, but the kiddos barely give me a moment to myself and I just haven't had time to get around to all your blogs. Now, today I have my Simply Sassy Dt post from yesterday to share with you and that is this...

... an awesome diagonal pocket card...if you haven't make one of these I highly recommend, it's so simple to. Here I've used 'Retail Therapy' and colored her to match the Dp's. I really felt this design didn't call for much extras, so I added a little trim to the pockets, my tags, then done. The most time consuming part was coloring the girl.

Next up, I have today's project for the Simply Sassy Dt which is this...

I've dubbed it the 'Sassy Traveler' and you've seen one on my blog before. Upon first opening it you will see this...

... a page for a message and a matchbook coloring book.
Open again and...

Some markers and embellishments for designing pleasure! This is my original design and I've make up a Tutorial for you which you can find here on the Sassy Dt blog.

The stamps I've used on this project are 'Puppy Love' and 'All Wrapped Up' and you can find them all at Funky Kits. That is all for me today. I've got some other things in the works and I'm hoping to have my sister's wedding invites done by this weekend so I should have pleanty to show you soon! Thanks again for stopping by, I really appreciate the time you take.

Havea wonderful day!
