Following your dreams and 'The Cake'

... Isn't that something you think about when you think of Amelia Earheart?? Well, it is for me. What an inspirational woman she was. Never letting those rotten men get in her way and doing what she loved!! Well, as you may have guessed it, today I've chosen ' Amelia' for my inspiration for you all and here she is...

You can find this beauty at Funky Kits here. I've made my own sentiment and am going to use this for a graduation card...I think she quite represents looking to the future!
The papers I've used are from Basic Grey's Capella line and I've inked up all the edges and used kraft for the base.
When I colored her I got her all done except the cloth on her arm...I knew I wanted a splash of color, just hadn't decided what yet. In placing my flowers I found I really liked this not quite burgandy color and went with it.

Here's a little closer view...I"m thinking there may be a little too much green now, but at least I got that splash of color in and that makes me feel a bit better. The clouds aren't actually that white, I've darkened them a bit, but it's not showing for some reason. Life will go on!

Here are my copics. So proud I've actually been remembering to take the pics lately!

Well that does it for cards for today, but before I leave I wanted to share with you a pic of that cake I promised. I meant to get it up here sooner with a whole post on Tillie, but I've been crazy busy and things are just not going to slow down as I'm getting ready to take a little trip so, here's the cake...

It was supposed to be way more spectacular than this, but I ran out of time due to my A/C going out and had to improvise. Not as fantastical to look at, but so incredibly yummy. The bottom cake was white from scratch and the top was strawberry. The icing was buttercreme with a few liberties and so delicious...I can't stop eating it,lol. Hopefully I get another chance to make this the right way, but luckily she only turned 2 and loved it!

Here's what she looked like at the end of the day when all was said and done. All dirty and sticky haired, so I think she had fun! If you've been folling me and your curious to see how she's changed since last year check out this post here.

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out the Simply Sassy DT blog to see all the inspiration that's going on over there. Also, it is gonna be quiet around here for about a week due to my trip, but I'll have lots of goodies to share with you when I get back so stay tuned!

Have a great day!

Creative Inspirations #60

Hello everyone!! First I want to start by saying Happy Birthday to my beautiful daughter who is turning two today!! Didn't know what I did before I had a sweet baby girl to play dress up with, lol. I will be back later with some pics of her cake and a little tribute to her, so enough for now and on to business. It's time for another challenge over at Creative Inspirations to and this week we have a no cooking recipe, as follows:

Must have a cupcake, ribbon or lace, 2 flowers(um I forgot that one, bad me), and pearls.

The sponsor of this challenge is Robyn's Fetish and the winner will receive 5 digi stamps and 4 digi stamps and a paper pack, wow, what a prize is that!!

Ok, so this challenge was a bit of a struggle for me cause with DD's b-day coming up I  wanted to make the card for her and non of the images seemed appropriate and I only had one with a cupcake and couldn't(have told myself I can't) buy another. So, time to put my thinking cap on! Finally, Thursday, this thought occured to me...

This is Fairy Tale Tilda and she is supposed to be holding a little frog, but I thought how perfect are her hands to put a cupcake in them! So, I inked up everything but the frog...this took a few tries, then penciled in a cupcake and went over that with a copic multi liner. Wish I'd had a smaller tip, but I don't think it looks too bad all done.

My Dp is DCWV and is actually only one sheet and I really cannot believe I pulled this off using only one Dp! The stickers are from K&Company and I've cut out the butterflies with a MS cart. and my Cricut.  All those pearls are Imaginesce and are put on with my i-rock.

Here's a little closer view of this cutie!! Think I'm going to have to make some more of her holding the cupcake, I really love the idea!!

My copics...pretty easy to figure out I think. I will leave you at that today! I'll try and be back later today to show you that cake, but if I don't make it, it should be up on Monday. Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to go check out what the rest of the DT has come up with for you.

Have a great day!

Simply Vintage

Hello lovely people! I was supposed to be back yesterday, but I got so into making DD's birthday cake and I forgot, sorry. Anyway, today I've got some more Sassiness to share with your and that is...

...'Vintage Boutique' available at Funky Kits. I'm so thrilled with this card, the light pinks came out just how I wanted them and I used all scraps to make it...what an added bonus!! I have sooo many scraps and the collection just keeps getting bigger and bigger! I knew I wanted her vintage so I told myself I WAS  going to use scraps and I had NO choice in the matter, so glad it turned out ,lol

Here's a a closer view. I didn't like her shoes at first, but they are growing on me. I will def be using this pink again, so loving it, especially the really light pink. She also seemed like a girl with a little darker skin to me, so I colored her up appropriately.

Here are my copics and I will leave you with that. Gotta keep the chatter light as I've got more work to do on the cake. It's gonna be pretty, but it requires about 700 flowers...shudda looked a little closer at those directions, lol.  Can't wait to see how it turns out, I'll post pics, but I'm no professional, so be kind..

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Southern Girls Challenge#19

Hello Lovely people!! It's challenge time again over at Southern Girls and the theme this time around is Pearls and Lace. Our Sponsors are The Paper Shelter for Int. and Stitchy Bear for Nz/Aus. My image was kindly donated by Stitchy Bear and this is what I have come up with...

This image is called 'Bathtime Lucy' and as you can tell is quite large, thus the pretty basic card. I have incorporated pearls in the corners and have made a flower out of some lace. The Di-cuts were done on my Cricut. and the punch I used was MS.

I think that about covers it. Make sure you swing by the SG blog to see what the rest of the DT has come up with and don't forget to check out our sponsors. I'll be back tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Simply Sassy- Set 7- New Release Blog Hop!!!

Hey all you Sassy Fans welcome to another Simply Sassy for Sugar Nellie New Release Blog Hop!! If you've come here from Kathrin's blog you are on the right track, but if you've just happened upon my blog and want to start at the begining please go to the Simply Sassy Dt blog. Ok, I know you've got lots of blogs to get to today, so I'll make this short and sweet for you. Here is my card....
I have used 'Missing You' available today at Funky Kits. Krista has done such a good job with her facial expression, don't you think. She is just perfect for all those Missing/Thinking of you cards...what a great addition to our collections!!
As per the card, I have colored her up with copics and paired her with Basic Grey's Kioshi papers. I have also followed the current Sugar Bowl sketch challenge.

Here's a closer view...

I  suprised myself with this color choice, but I really quite like it . These pics are looking a little blurry on my set up, but I hope it's just a weird blogger issue and you are seeing them ok. Anyway, I decided this time around to let the focus be on the image itself and leave the surrounding area white and yet the yellow dp  do the job and I think it turned out well.

Finally, here are my copics. Almost ran out of room in my cup there, lol. Well, I hope you have been enjoying yourself on the hop today, your next stop is Tracy and if you'd like the chance to WIN 'Missing You' leave me a comment by Monday and I'll choose a random winner.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your hop and don't forget to swing by Sugar Nellie(more fun going on there I'm told) and of course...

...for all your Simply Sassy needs!!

Simply Chic

Hello Lovely people! I've got some more Sassy inspiration for you today and I think it's safe to say I got a little mojo back for this one....I really like it anyway. I'll just get straight to it for you, so here's the card...

Today I used 'Oh La la' available at Funky Kits here. I went back to my old habits and colored her all up before I picked out any papers, but for whatever reason this is how I saw her, lol. I did have a problem when it was all finished though and that was I didn't want to make this a 'dark' card and none of my papers with black in them would make it otherwise. On a whim I started flipping through my Shabby stack and I had the image there holding it next to the papers and I just thought the pink and blue really accented the gray nicely and I was gonna throw caution aside and give it a go. I love the end result!

I've distressed all the papers and added some stickles to the flowers. The swirls are from a larger Prima swirl that I cut up and the rest of the embellishments are from my stash. This card came together really easy and really quickly and so I stared at it for a long time thinking it was missing something, but I kept trying to add more, but just didn't like it,lol. I guess that should be a sign it's finished., but the more I look at it now, the more I like it.

Here's a closer view of 'Oh La la'. They're not showing up in the pic, but I've added stickles to the hearts in her leggings and the stripes on the sides and also to her belt.

A better view of the flowers(from WOC) so you can see those stickles.

Lastly, my copics. A pretty easy list. Figures I would finally remember to take the pic when I didn't use a million colors, lol. Below you'll find the list of challenges I've entered.  Oh' one last thing I should mention...

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Creative Inspirations #59

Happy Mother's Day!!! I don't know about you all but I have every intention of taking it easy today! Maybe, if I'm lucky, that will even involve some coloring so I can actually get a head start on some work that needs to be done.  DD has another cold, so we will see about that! Anyway I do need to tell you it's challenge time again over at Creative Inspirations and this week Bea has chosen our theme of Glitz and Bling! Our Sponsors are:

and Joanna Sheen with a 10 voucher to her store.

So, here is my card...

Yep, this ones for my Mommy! I've got all kinds of different glitz and bling on there too. Stickles all around the card and the flowers have been glimmer misted as well as the teal cardstock. The white paper behind miss Tilda is pearlesent cardstock from DCWV and the rhinestones are from Imaginsce and attached with my I-Rock.

Purple again for Tilda...that's two in a row! You can really see the glimmer on that paper here and I believe this image is called 'Tilda with banner'. I think she was a perfect choice for my mom's card cause she has freckles just like me!

Ok, well, this did not post in the direction it was supposed to, lol. However, here is a closer view of the flowers and now I'm almost out of purple...Oh' please WOC get the ones I need in stock soon!!

Well, that's all for me! I hope you all are having a lovely weekend and getting some beautiful weather...supposed to be 102 degrees here, yuck! Thanks for stopping by and make sure to check out what the rest of the DT have come up with!

Have a great day!

A Maggie Thank You

Hello my blogging friends! Hope you all are doing well today. I've got a busy day ahead of me, but I really need to to something up on this blog! I've been a bad blogger lately, sorry about that, life just seems to get crazy at the end of the school year. Soon school will be out and I should(hopefully if my kids cooperate) have a little more craft time. At least I won't be running them around to soccer practices and games and such and to top it off DH is starting a new job soon and he'll be home at a decent hour so my life will be getting much better. Anyway, you didn't stop by to hear about all that, so on to the card.

Meet 'Tilda and Her Bunny' isn't she the cutest, and I've paired her with 'Daffodil Dell' from Make it crafty! Together I think they make a great little scene. I've colored both the images with copics and the rest of the background has been done with chalks.

Here she is on the finished card. This photo did not turn out the best, but I took several and believe it or not this was the best of them. Sorry about the awkwardness of it too, I never know what to do when the bows going off the card like that lol. It looks bad if I chop it and it looks bad if I don't so I guess it's lose, lose.

Here's a close up of those flowers. My stash is getting really small now. WOC really needs to get in the flowers that I want, arrgghhh, I am no good at making my own! It seems all of us in the craft world want the same colors and buy from the same place lol, but I've been waiting for months now and when they finally get in one thing I want they are sold out of another and I really don't wanna make a bunch of orders, oh what a dilemma!

Ok, one more thing, yesterday I  forgot to mention  that a new challenge started over at Southern Girls and it is....One for the Girls!! We have some fantastic sponsors for this challenge they are Tiddly Inks, Sassy Studio Designs, and Joanna Sheen so be sure to check out the challenge blog for further deets and to see all the DT creations! Thanks for stopping by hope you have a great day!

Simply Said and a Digi Sentiment 4U

Hello All!! I'm finally back! Hope you all are off to a wonderful week! It's bright and sunny where I'm at, so hopefully the chores don't take too long today. Anyway, today I have my Simply Sassy Dt inspiration post to share with you and that is this...

This image is called 'Call Me' and is available at Funky Kits here. I've left it CAS because I see this going to a man and they're generally not into all the fru fru stuff. The sentiment is mine and I'm now thinking it may be a bit large, but it doesn't look that big IRL, so I think this is just one of those cards that doesn't photograph well. The pretty papers are from BoBunny's Gabrielle line and the lace is from my stash. All of the papers have been distressed and inked and that's pretty much it.

Here's a close up. She is colored with copics and the background is done with chalks. Sorry I don't have a copic list for you as she's been colored up for some time. I'm personally very happy with the background and hope I can repeat it sometime and it's not a one hit wonder, lol.

Lastly, I will share with you my sentiment. It's not perfect, but if you like it, here you go. Clicking it should take you to a larger size to save to your computer. Please don't pass it off as your own and refer people back to my blog if they'd like one.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
