Thank You and Enjoy!

Hello All! Well I told you I would have at least on last Sassy post for you so here it is. Ive made this...

Thank you card using Cinders for the sweet photographer who took pics of my sisters wedding. She took some pics of my family and I and sent me a disk all free of charge, so super nice of her!! I usually take our family photos, but it's really hard to be the one taking the pic and being in it as I don't have the necessary remote. If your in the market for a wedding photographer she does beautiful work and will travel just about anywhere for it check out her site here.

Next up my first large tag...

... Using Domestic Goddess. I know some of you out there make these all the time and can get them pretty elaborate, but for whatever reason I really struggle decorating them. I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out and since I've been known to hand out the baked goods every now and again I think it will come in handy.

That's all for today folks. Thanks for stopping by and as I said before. Its' going to be quiet around here for a while. I'll try and get a pic of those stocking on here when they are done but I have so much Christmas stuff left to do and as I mentioned before I'm probably taking a little trip so more than likely I'll see you in the new year.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Southern Girls #34

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a lovely week. I'm still crazy busy getting ready for Christmas, how about you, getting close yet?? Well I suppose that's not what I'm here to talk about so I should get on with it. Today begins a new Challenge over at Southern Girls and the theme is "Let's Celebrate". That can be any kind of celebration Christmas, Birthday, etc. Here's what I came up with...

using a sponsor supplied image. This was supposed to be w/o flowers of any sort, but that corner just looked soo empty. I really gotta work on being able to make CAS cards. This is Southern Girls last challenge for this year so please stop by and check out the rest of the DT creations and our sponsors Di's Digi's and Stitchy Bear.

Thanks for stopping by today! I'll be back in a couple day's with some Sassy inspiration for you.

Have a wonderful day!

Simply Primping

Hello everyone! How have you been this week? Sadly myself and DD have been under the weather thus the reason for the continued quite around here. I'm still not quite up to par, but getting there. Earlier this week I made this....

little door hanger using Tease Me from the newest and last set of Simply Sassy's. I've left it simple since it's for a door and will be getting knocked around.  I did make sure to use some fun bright colors and lots of pink! I tell ya in a house of four boys I could really use one of these myself...you think it would kill them to knock!!

That about explains her so it's a short post today and there's probably not going to be to much more before Christmas. I have one more Sassy post and that's going to be two projects for you and my Southern Girls challenge coming up this week but that will probably be it for a while.  I don't know what I was thinking, but I told my kids I would make their annual Christmas jammies this year(I am not a sewer) and it seems we can't find their stocking so now they want me to make those too....completely winging that one. Shopping is almost done, so that's good, but hubby is gone for one more week so I won't really be able to finish that up til he returns. My Grandfather whose been very ill is up at my moms right now and since that's much closer than where he lives we are going to try to make it up to see him for the holidays. I will try to at least pop in and say hi and if my sewing experiences turn out I'll share them with you...that's a big if though, lol. Wish me luck. I hope all of your holiday plans are coming along and I'll see you back here next week with some more Sassy inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

TOMIC #27

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine went by super fast...as did my whole week really. Anyway, last week I I got some exciting news which was this...

Yep, I couldn't believe it, they picked little Ole' me to be Guest Dt member, I was floored!! Still can't really believe it,lol. There are so many gorgeous creations out there and especially on that challenge site  it's such an honor.

I was told we were supposed to use a shaker box in our creation and go along the theme of Christmas. This is what I came up with...

I grew up in MN and even though I now live in the south I still think of snow when I think of Christmas. I realized upon completion of this it might not be exactly what they had in mind, but lucky for me they said it was ok, whew! If you frequent my blog you've seen this before and know it's actually and easel card. Here's what this one looks like in it's easel stance...

I decided this time around to put a few dots of stickles on the inside of circles so it didn't look so plain when opened this way...I think it did the trick as I was not completely happy with the last one I made. If you're new around here or didn't get it last time you will find a tutorial for this on my tutorials tab  underneath my blog header.

Well, that's all for today. I'll be back soon with some more Sassy inspiration for you. Thanks for stopping by and make sure you check out the TOMIC challenge and the amazing DT creations!

Have a wonderful day!

Simply Gifted

Hello lovely blogging friends! Boy, I forget just how crazy this time of year is for me. My son's birthday was yesterday, so I've been busy preparing for that... sorry it's been so quiet around here. I had planned on having some extra stuff for you, but I guess it will have to wait just a little longer. I do at least have some Sassy inspiration for you and that is this...

...Sassy gift box. I was actually just going to make a cute little tag with this beautiful limited edition Season's Greetings stamp, but I thought it would look better if I put it on a gift and well, it evolved, lol.

Here's another view...

I love these gorgeous Christmas papers from MME! The flowers are from WOC and the pearls and lace are from my stash.

Here's a closer view...

I liked the idea of white hair for some reason and since there wasn't much else to color this really came together quickly and will be perfect for one of my sister's gifts. I think this girl's gonna end up on a lot of Christmas stuff!

That's all for me today! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Sassy Pencil Keeper

Hello all! Boy this week has just flown by! We've had a holiday here in the US and I have not stopped all week. First I was preparing for out Thanksgiving feast and then doing my annual Black Friday shopping. To say I'm tired would probably be an under statement, but on a good note, I've got almost all my shopping done, yay!! So i haven't yet gotten to my sassy inspiration for this week which is this...

... little desk caddy. I liked the idea that this 'Book Club' girl was also an artist and we artists need a place to keep our pencils and such so I cam up with this. the smaller one is magnetic and great for all those little things. Here is a pic of it filled...

The top one is more true to color.  Wouldn't it be nice if these things could just always come out the same. Anyway, the pics don't do it justice, it looks much better IRL. I'm now not completely taken with the flower so I could be changing that, but I do want it to get used, so i don't want to put too much stuff on it. There are some stickles that aren't showing up and I'm going to look for a mini sticky pad to put in the from but then it will be finished.

That's all for now, but I have some really exciting news to share. I just found and I want to make something to go along with the post, so I'll be back soon with that! Hope all of you in the US had a wonderful Thanksgiving and everyone else had a great week!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

TOMIC- use a paper bag

Hello everyone! I wanted to get in on TOMIC's challenge this week and it was to use a paper bag and this...

photo for inspiration. When I first saw this on Monday I had grand intentions for my paper bag...I was going to make an album, however, I got myself busy with too many projects and I didn't have time. It seems though that everyone entering the challenge was infact just dressing up a paper bag and I wanted to do something different. My first idea was a luminaria, but it seems a white bag would have been better and I didn't have one. So, this...

... is what I cam up with. I'm not sure what to call it, but I DID use a paper bag, I just cut it into 3pieces for my project. This is what it looks like on the inside...

... sort of like an accordion folder. You can put little gifts, maybe money or a gift card and a tag, whatever you want.  I gave it a velcro closure so it has room to grow, lol

Here are a  couple more views...

I've colored her up with copics, though I'm not entirely happy with how her pants turned out, sometimes you gotta just let it be. Hopefully this week, I'll be able to get some more distress ink coloring done, but it takes me ages and I've got tons of other projects I'm working  on right now. We will see. That's all for today, all be back here early in the week with my Sassy inspiration for you and hopefully I'll be able to show you some of the other things I've been working on as well.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Postitively Perfect Princess and a Winner!

Hello all! Today's card is from the sneak of the Simply Sassy release coming this weekend. I really love this set and I think you will too. Meet....

Cinderella

Isn't she a beauty!! Guess the card says' it all lol. I really struggled making this one...this was actually my third attempt...terrible right, you ever have days like that?? Of  course I wanted to color her pink at first, but then I noticed that was the color my teammate used for her the day before and so I wanted it to be at least a little different. I decided then to use distress inks(attempt#3) and go with blue. I had completely different papers in mind plus a sketch...it wasn't working out. Try #2 the Sugar bowl sketch...loved the papers...I cannot zig-zag stitch and it took me quite some time to come to that conclusion...I have determination issues sometimes. This is number 3 which also didn't go perfectly as I first put the base paper on upside down....yes, it made a difference. So there you have it and now I'm not so sure about those flowers, but i don't hate them either, so I guess they stay.

At any rate, here's a closer view of little miss Cinderella...

...and I think you can tell my coloring is improving a bit. I've decided I think it's a bit easier to color with reinkers and white tipped brushed as I can tell much better how much ink is on there and it's really cutting down on the over saturation. Since I am learning here and maybe some of you are too I will try and remember to share with you things I find helpful.

Here are the colors I used:
Skin: tattered rose(re-inker), vintage photo(pad)
cheeks&lips worn lipstick (re-inker)
Dress: tumbled glass(pad), pumice stone(re-inker) for shadows
Hair: scattered straw(re-inker), brushed corduroy (re-inker)
Eyes: tumbled glass(pad), faded jeans(pad)

Before I go the winner of my scrapbooking software giveaway from mymemories.com is.....

Sassy ornament with a tutrorial

Hello wonderful people and welcome to my new followers!! How are you today? Well, I hope!  For today's post  I  wanted to share with you how I made the ornament that went with my picnic basket found here. Here's today's finished ornament ...

and if you want to make your own like this you will need:

1  image(I used Simply Sassy Puppy Love)
Spellbinders Nestabilities:
Large Circles-largest one
Lacey Circles-largest one
cardstock
lightweight cardboard(I recycled a waffle box)
ribbon/trim
glue

First you will need to cut and color or vice versa your stamped image with the large circle die. Second cut out one each of two different colors(or different shades of same color) and one cardboard piece with the large lacey die.

Choose which of the two colors will be the back color on your ornament and attach it to the cardboard piece...if your recycling like I did make sure the designed side is the one getting the tape as the other will be seen. Now place the remaining lacey piece evenly on top of that piece then turn until the colors are every other like this...

Now you can hold one side and tape the other then switch Next, center your image on top of your collective lacey pieces and tape down. Flip it over and apply a looped hanging string of sorts(ribbon or whatever) to the back. Next, again using the large circle die cut a circle out of your cardboard and place it centered on the back to hid the ribbon that doesn't need to be seen. If you used something a little thicker and have a pretty rounded trim and some pop up dots you can put the trim around the edge of the circle and the dots somewhere central before putting it on the back, like this...

Well, that's all for me today, hope you've enjoyed my mini tutorial. Also in case you missed it yesterday, you really should check out the giveaway I have going on at that post here. Thanks for stopping by!

Have a wonderful day!

Something new with a GIVEAWAY!!!

My lovely followers and sweet passersby,
I was approached a couple of weeks ago by a company called My Memories. They asked if I would be interested in trying out their digital scrapbooking software MyMemoriesSuiteV2  and host a give away on my blog. To be honest I wasn't too sure at first...I've tried several digital scrapbooking softwares, but have found them all difficult and confusing. I did some nosing around their site read some reviews and decided to give it a go and I'm really glad I did! This software is so easy to use and what's better everything is easily saved in jpeg form so you can use it to make all sorts of things. Here are a couple of pages I made from one of their album set up's...

I left this page as is, but you can actually change any bits and pieces of it as you like...I think that's awesome!

Both of these page set-ups were from the same album, but since I can save them as a jpeg I felt free to use pics of her from different ages and I will actually print them out and use them as pictures for my wall.

Like I said before, scrapbooking isn't all you can do.You can make still movies and add music and  with the jpeg option you can print out any papers you like or make your own and use them for whatever you desire. I even found it worked with some existing kits I had and couldn't get to use before!!

Ok, now for the fun part. You can't have a give away w/o some kind of rules, right, and I'd really like you to see what this is all about so go to www.MyMemories.com  have a look around and come back here and leave me a comment about what your favorite paper pack/template/wordart... whatever it may be, is, and I will draw a random winner next Wednesday the 16th. If you decide you want to try this program out NOW I was given a special coupon code***STMMMS33379*** to share with you. This coupon is good for a $10 discount off the purchase of the MyMemoriesSuiteV2 software and a $10 coupon for the MyMemories.com store.

Thanks everyone for stopping by today, I look forward to reading your comments and giving away this software to one lucky reader! See you tomorrow!!

Have a great day!

A holiday basket with a suprise and a tutorial

Hello all and thank you for stopping by today. This weeks challenge over at TOMIC was to make a basket and the second I saw Angela's I knew I had to try and make one like hers!! She made a basket with an actual basket weave and it looked like a picnic basket, sooo cute, you can see it here.  Thank you Angela for the inspiration!! Now, I went to her blog to see if she gave any sort of directions, but no such luck! She did say she used one inch strips of paper so I started from there and this...

... is how mine turned out. I thought some others of you might like to know how I made this, so I took some pics and notes along the way and have made a little tutorial on this which you can find here in my tutorials page.

This little Edwin is actually an ornament. He's attached using some twine(nicely hidden) so all the recepient needs to do is untie it and remove the twine and and then they have a cute little ornament for their tree.

Here's a close up of this Awesome Edwin!! This is distress inks attempt 2(if your're following me) and as you can tell I'm not grasping the whole really dark to really light concept. Perhaps I've been working with copics for too long. I wanted to get into these for that look, but when I'm coloring it just doesn't look right and I can't get myself to do it, grrr!  Just keep trying, just keep trying...eventually I will get it,lol. Hope you like him anyway.

Here are a couple more views of my basket...

Has a magnetic opening on one side to make it easier to put/take things in/out.

Here you can see the twin holding the ornament and the side view of the ornament...I will def be making more of these themselves!!

That's all for today. Remember if you want some instructions to check out my tutorials page.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Distress Inks- attempt one

I've decided to finally take the plunge and venture into the word of distress inks! I actually started buying up inks ages ago, but just never got around to working with them. I recently saw a gorgeous card on Dena's blog and decided that was it I was going to FINALLY give it a shot. I watched her videos and figured I'd use colors she had used as a starting point.  In the end i basically did my own thing, lol. So, here's my first attempt...

Obviously I have a lot to learn about these inks but I don't think she's too bad for round one. The hardest part I found was keeping a dry enough yet wet enough brush and I don't think this paper was quite smooth enough. Since I didn't have the colors Dena used for skin I opted for Tea Dye, which has a purplish hue once you've used a bit of it, but perhaps it wouldn't have gotten that far if I was better with this technique.

Here's the completed card...

This took me forever to get together, but I was once again determined to get into TOMIC's current challenge and since I don't have some of the things on their bingo board I had to go a route which required metal and that too some digging. It ended up not being much, but there in the upper right corner is my bit of metal...an old part of an earring.
All of the beautiful MME papers have been distressed with my Tim Holtz distressor and then distress inks were also added...even the lace got some, guess I was a little distress crazy :)

That's all for today, but I'll be back soon! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Simply Sassy Snowglobe tutorial

Hello all! Today I have a special treat for you! Last year I designed a snow glob, shaker, easel card and today I'm going to share the instructions with you. First, here is my almost finished(the inside isn't done yet) card...

Sorry for the less than stellar pics, but it was super dark out when i finished and it's been cloudy since so I haven't been able to get a better on :(  The show must go on as they say, so I'm afraid you're stuck with these. I've used Sammy from the Sugar Nellie Sassy line for card and you can find her here.

To begin this project you are going to need to print and cut out this...

... template I have made for you. You will need one of these in full form and print an cut a second and just cut out the circle form. Make sure you cut along the outer edge of the lines and  round the bottom corners.

Here is the paper I made and used if you would like it

Other items you need are scissors, ruler, pencil, stiff cardstock(for base),  very small pop-up dots/squares  in two sizes...I used 1/4" and 1/8" thick, and some sort of trim to go around the edge of the circle. Once you have these you are ready to begin.

I have made some videos for you to follow and I'm going to apologize in advance for mishaps with the camera, my little ones, and my dog(she started going crazy at the end and it was because of the camera so there was no getting rid of it). Also it seem Ok, so has replaced hmm in my vocabulary and I said it way to much, sorry.  Now, onto those videos...

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Ok, that's it. I hope I haven't left anything out and you were able to understand them ok. Thanks for stopping by I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial and if you decide to make one of these I'd love to see it!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Southern Girls Challenge #30

Hello All!! It's time again for another challenge over at Southern Girls and this week we want to see what you can do with Dots and Stripes! Here's my take...

This on resulted in a CAS card for me, but I rather like it. I've used one of Saturated Canary's digi's called Naveah and the sentiment is from Whimsy.  I've added those rhinestones with my I-rock tool from Imaginsce. These awesome papers are from Echo Parks Be Mine collection and I love them!!

Here's a closer view and in case you can't see it there is some stickles on that pretty dress. I'm pretty sure I used C5,3, and 1 if you like the color of the dress, but she's been colored fora while, so I'm not certain.

That's all for me today, be sure to stop by the SG challenge blog to see what the rest of the girls have made and don't forget to check out our wonderful sponsors Stamp Fairy for Int and  the Scrapbox for Auz/Nz.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

A Sassy Fashionista and a couple freebies!

Hello all!! Today I've got an older Sassy to share with you. Here is...

...'Fashionista' and you can find her here with Laid Back Dude. This card is a little bit different as it opens when you untie the bow and what's left is the brown layer and the doily. Unfortunately, I don't have any other pics to share with you as out of nowhere I started feeling real sick last night and I had to hurry up and finish this. I also want to do a couple more things to the inside, but I will share them when it's done.
The beautiful papers are MME and the flowers are WOC. I got the little keys and locks and fluffly pearly stuff at my local hobby store(hobby lobby)

Ok, so I said I had some freebies for you,  so here they are...

Enjoy! I've got a few more christmas ones in the works so if you like these be sure to keep watching.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Hittin' the Town

Hello Everyone! First I'd like to Hi and welcome to my new followers, I'll be around to check out your blogs soon! Hubby's been away this week, so I'm running a little behing. I haven't even sat down at my craft table in days!!
 So, this...

...gorgeous Sassy girl 'Let's Hit the Town' went up on the Simply Sassy Dt blog on Monday and now I"m finally getting it here. I gotta say I really love her outfit, I so whish I could dress the way these Sassy girls do,lol. I decided she was feeling vintage so I picked out these new beautiful Prima papers and colored her up to match.

Here's a closer view, I know those colors are really light, so  I you could tell a little more in this. Those beautiful flowers are from WOC. The butterflies and flourish I cut with my cricut and the Sophisticated cartridge and the others are spellbinders.

I'm sorry to say I gotta keep this one pretty short...I gotta get a little more shopping done before dinner. I hope you have enjoyed her and I'll have some more freebie soon!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!
