Simply Sassy Round 2

Well, I told you all before I made it to Round 2 in the Simply Sassy competition and I've finally made my card. I was waiting, hoping, I would get my new stamps I ordered, but they never came yesterday and I could wait no more. This time around we were asked to 'show our style'. Well if you frequent my blog you know I'm an eclectic cardmaker just going by what moves me at the time. I don't often do lots of layers and I like to try new colors, but I probably do more pink than anything. I love glitter and pearls and almost always have a few flowers. With that in mind, here is my card...

I really had a fun time making this vintage card the other day and I'd decided this 'Fairytale' image would probably look great in that style. I had some particular papers in mind, but after I'd gotten her colored up they didn't match well enough for me...I am adamant about matching colors, it's a must for me...So, I searched out papers and found these MME papers to be perfect!
I've actually made this an easel card, but I find they don't photograph well, so I'm showing it second. I've combined a couple of different trims for that lacy look under her...I don't think the pics do it justice as the lace it quite beautiful. As you can see this is not vintage, more Shabby Chic, but I think it's relatively close to my original idea.
Here's a close-up. The shading around her is done with chalks and is a mixture of baby blue on the outer edges and yellow in the middle. The flowers were colored with copics to match and I've put a few buttons in the arrangement.
Well, I think that about covers it. I hope you like my card and if I make it two Round 3 it's going to be public voting so I will need your help. Hope you all have a great day and be sure to check out the other girls cards as they are all fabulous!
Thanks for stopping by!

Southern Girls Challenge#8

Hey all! It's time again for another challenge over at Southern Girls. This week we want to see something Vintage. I know some of you girls are really good with this, so I bet we'll see some amazing creations. Vintage is NOT my forte`, but here's my best shot...

This image was given to the DT to use and it's form Whimsey Stamps(Crissy Armstrong). At first glance she seemed easy enough to color, but looks can be deceiving as I had a really hard time with her.YOu can see(hopefully) that all my papers are distressed and I used a Tim Holtz distressing tool for that...so much easier than using the scissors, lol

Here's a close-up of the girl. I'm still not happy with the coloring, but sometimes you just gotta let it go,lol

Close up of the left side. Idk if buttons are vintage, but they worked for me, hope it's ok. The pretty flowers are Wild Orchid and the buttons are from my stash.

The right side. I did another turned corner with flowers and I think it
accents this layout nicely. A couple more buttons to even things out, lol I don't think I can begin to explain to you how my mind works, but it seemed lopsided to me without the buttons.

Ok ladies and gents that's it for me, but if you wanna try out something vintage and have a chance at:

1) For Int. crafters a superb 5 digital images from their shop
and
2) An awesome prize pack from Mad for Markers the New Zealand/Aus. crafters.

Can't wait to see what you come up with! Hope you all are having a fabulous day and make sure to stop by and see the rest of the DT's wonderful creations!
Thanks for stopping by!

Lexi's Creations #28

Hello all! It's time again for another challenge over at Lexi's and this week we want to see glitter and pearls. The sponsor this week is Fairy Dust Crafts. My DD was sick last night and I'm runing a bit behind with this post, so I'm gonna make it short and sweet. So, here's my card...

I used one of Lexi's new images called Gingerbread house and colored it up with these papers in mind. I've kept the design pretty simple and I put Icicle stickles on the rooftop and the snow on the bottom.

Here's a close-up so you can see the stickles better. This one may have a bit too much white space on the image so I may add a sentiment, but for now I like it.

Well, that's it for now, I gotta tend to my DD. Thanks for stopping by and make sure to check out what the rest of the DT has come up with.

Have a great day!

Creative Inspirations#49

Hello everyone! Seems like ages since I've made a DT post but my vacation home was much needed and I loved seeing my family! Anyway, it's time for another challenge at Creative Inspirations and this week the theme is Anything Goes Chrstmas. I don't know about you all, but I still have so many christmas cards left to be made and the kids teachers gifts, I bet you'll find something you can enter. So, here's my card...

I've used the adorable James the Bear from LOTV and he was sent to me by my dear friend Loz, thanks hun! I also followed the LOTV sketch as I thought is was a nice simple one and I quite like it. The sentiment is a freebie from Bizy Becs, isn' t it fantastic!
Here's a close-up...don't know why the background looks green, but it's not, only the edges. He is of course colored with copics C7-1 and can I say I'm loving this shade of blueB39,26,&24 if your're interested. I decided to go with white flower soft and stickles for the garland.
Our sponsors this week are Stamp and create with a $10 voucher to their store and secondly Soft Pencil who is also giving away a $10 voucher.
Well, I think that about does it. Hope you all have a fabulous Sunday! I'll be baking and getting those teacher gifs done myself.
Thanks for stopping by,
xxAutumn

Simply Sassy:WOW #2

Ok, so, after my card yesterday for the SS competition, I got an idea for another one and had to give it a shot! If you need more info go here. Once again, the prize up for grabs is this...

...and to top that off a spot on the NEW Simply Sassy DT...the grand is nice, but I'd really love that DT spot!! Let's not forget that the finalists also get to chose 12 Sugar Nellie stamps for their very own!!

Ok, here's my card...

The thing I was interested in doing with this image was darker skin and hair, something I really don't do very often. I've colored her with copics E33,13,&11...my first time using this combo, what do you think, does it work?? I will tell you that although I don't do dark skin often I've found it helpful to do the cheeks first...more can be added later if needed, but it offers more control and it works much better for me on dark skin.

She's a little dark here, but the lighting is kind of poor at midnight, lol. I've used the purples V:000, 01, 12,15, & a little 17. I've put stickles on her shoes and a little on her dress and rhinestones were added with my I-rock. The background shading is done with chalk. Ok, well I think that's about it. Thanks for stopping by. Remember to stay tuned in case I make it to the next round cause at some point I may need your votes.
Have a great day!

Simply Sassy Competition Round 1

Hey all! Did you know that Sugar Nellie is having a Simply Sassy only competition?? Well, they are and there are fabulous prizes to be won! The grand prize is this....

Oh' wouldn't you just love that!! Bust wait, that's not all along with that Grand Calibur the winner will receive a spot on the new Simply Sassy DT, Oh' man, I would just love that what a dream DT that's going to be! There's even more though and that's that the other finalists will receive their choice of 12 Sugat Nellie stamps...OMGosh, how awesome is that! If your interested check out all the deets here.
Ok, so, the first round in this competition is WOW(white on white)...you may only color the image and do shading. Since you've already been reading so much I'll get on with it. Here is my card...
Isn't she a beauty!! This Simply Sassy image is called Fairytale..appropriate I think. I love that long flowing hair and those big beautiful eyes all these images have. She is colored with copics, the shading is done with chalks and as you can see all my papers and embellishments are white. The image is also popped up on pop-up dots so she really stands out.

Here's a close-up. I've added some stickles to her shoes and around the boarder to make the layer stand out better.

Pretty flowers from whild orchid.
Spritzed with my own shimmer mix & stickles on the edges
Here's a close-up of the detail I did on scoring my bottom sheet.
Ok, so I think that's it. Somewhere along this competition...asuming I make it that far...there is going to be voting, so if you like this card please stay tuned as the competition continues ansd vote for me if needed.
I should be back up and moving around here soon! My DD got sick as soon as we returned from vacation and then I got Strep Throat this past weekend, so it's been rough. Im still not completely up to par , but I have some crafty things that have to be done and turns out concentration on that helps me not focus on the crummy feeling in my tummy. Anyway, Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!

Southern Girls #6

Hello everyone! It's time again for another challenge over at Southern Girls. This week we want to see you use your Favorite Color. Our sponsors this week are Make it Crafty for our international crafters and The Scrapbook Outlet for our New Zealand/Australia crafters.
The design team were lucky enough to be supplied some images from and I chose this cute little mushroom house. My sister just bought a house so I thought I'd make her a house warming card. I've kept it pretty simple since I had to finish this up while on vacation and I couldn't cart all my punches and things with me :( I took my already colored image...least i got that done b4 I left home...to the craft store and sought out paper and this is what i came up with. I think the papers are a good fit, just with there were a little more going on there. Sorry, don't remember the brand of papers, but I've colored this with copics and the foreground and background are done with chalk. The flowers are wild orchid...managed to sneak a few of those in the car with me, lol. Guess that's about it. Make sure to stop by and see what the rest of the DT has come up with, you won't want to miss them. Hope you all have a fabulous week and I'll be back into the swing of things around here after Thanksgiving! Thanks for stopping by!

Have a great day!

Lexi's Creations #27

Hey all! It's time again for another challenge over at Lexi's! This week we want to see projects with traditional Christmas colors. Our sponsor this week is Letraset.

For my project I've created some cute little tags with one of Lexi's new images that can be found here. The tags were cut with my circuit and the images were colored with copics. That's it, easy peasy, and now I'm that much close to being ready for Christmas!

Make sure you stop by to see what the rest of the DT has to show you and to check out the rest of Lexi's new images that were showcasing!

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!

Sunday, November 14, 2010

Hello all! It's time for another challenge at Creative Inspirations. Our theme this week is anything Christmasy/Wintery. This weeks sponsors are The Crafty Pad with a Christmas stamp and Softpencil with a $10 gift voucher to spend in her store. Without further ado here is my card...

Elizabeth from Softpencil kindly gave us some images to work with and I chose this adorable boy and girl with a reindeer...who I decided to make frosty:) Sorry for the shotty picture, but I was getting ready for vacation(which I'm on now)when I took this and I didn't have time to set up a spot by my ott lite. Anyway, I've colored this with copics on my new express it blending card...it's gonna take me a bit to get use to coloring on that, but I think I like it! I've used icicle stickles to make it look snowy at their feet and the papers are old SEI I think...had them for ages. The snowflake was cut with my circut and covered with stickles.

Well, I think that about covers it. Make sure you stop by and check out what the rest of the DT has made. As I said b4 I'm on vacay right now so I won't be around tons, but I'll try and pop on every now and again. Hope you have a wonderful day, thanks for stopping by!

Sugar Nellie Fairies

Hello all! Got another Sugar Nellie for you today! I do so love these images...can't wait to get some actual rubber! This one's just for me, no DT stuff to go thru, so here's the card...
I've been working on coloring this up for a while now and today seemed like a good day to get it finished up. I think there's like a day left in the current Sugar Bowl challenge (sketch below) so I'm entering that to.

If I told you how long this simple sketch took me, you all would laugh at me! That's the price you pay for not paying attention to how large you're printing your image I guess. Even with that simple sketch I didn't have a whole lot of room to work with.
Here's a close-up of the couple. It took me forever to decide what color those wings should be and in the end I just kept adding colors til I liked it, lol! The blue part of the background is Copics and idk if you can tell but around the outer edges I went into the blue with yellow chalk. The green at the bottom is also done with chalk.
Well, that's it, decided to keep this one simple so even a man could appreciate it, lol. Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great day!

Lexi's Creations #26

Hello Everyone! It's time again for another challenge at Lexi's! This week's challenge is an easy one as 'Anything Goes' I find these challenges to be a good time to do something I've been wanting to try out. So, here's what I came up with...

I made a bookmark! I've been seeing these corner bookmarks everywhere lately and have soo been wanting to try one out. The in-laws were here this past week and didn't leave me much time to craft, so it all worked out great! I even gave the bookmark to my MIL who loves to read! The image I used is called Fairy Dust Butterfly and can be found here.

Here's a close-up of the awesome butterfly! I've covered it with diamond stickles. The flowers are bobunny ... with a little diamond stickles. Rhinestones are from my stash and the papers are DCWV .

This weeks sponsor is Joanna Sheen with a 10 voucher to her store! Be sure to stop by and see what the rest of the DT has come up with. Thanks for stopping by!

Have a fabulous day!

Creative Inspirations#46

Hello everyone! It's time again for another challenge over at Creative Inspirations and this week Suzi has chosen the theme of Glitter, Glamour, Girlie! This should be an easy one for you so I bet we see a lot of entries. This weeks winner will receive a prize from our monthly sponsor Fantastic Ribbons and a new sponsor to Creative Inspirations, Paper Cupcakes, is offering up two digi images to the winner. What a fantastic prize this week! Now, on to my card...

This beauty here is Tilda blowing bubbles from the fairytale collection. I've been meaning to use her for some time, but she's quite a large stamp and has had me a little stumped. Luckily, this weeks Just Magnolia sketch was perfect for this image!
When I first pulled her out I was thinking Girlie so Pink of course came to mind and this is sooo not pink, lol! I decided to do things a little differently this time around and actually pick out my papers B4 I colored her up...this really saved me a lot of headache...I love to color so I tend to get carried away with it! Anyway, I fell in love with that blue/green paper and this was born.

Here's a close-up. Idk if you can tell, but I've actually stamped her off on some sparkly paper (DCWV pearl shimmer cardstock) so she shines all over...think you can see it best in the upper right hand corner of this pic. This paper was a little difficult to color on...my dark brown didn't blend as well as I'd like in some parts, but I'll keep working on it. I think as long as you stay away from dark colors and don't use too many layers it will be fine and not not nearly as expensive as the cryogen paper that some use.

The flowers are wild orchid which I colored to match. So glad I decided to buy some white ones with my last purchase, that was a very good decision. Well, I think that about does it. Hope you've enjoyed my card today. Make sure to stop by and see what the rest of the DT have come up with. I look forward to seeing your creations! Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!

Southern Girls #4

Hello everyone! It's time again for another challenge over at Southern Girls. This week we have a theme and we want to see some Glittery creations! You may have noticed I LOVE my stickles, so this one was tons of fun for me!
This weeks sponsors are Karen Rogers(stampin' up demo) for AUS/NZ and a $10 gift voucher from Shirley's 2 Girls for Int.
On to my card...

I'm feeling a little Christmasy lately...probably cause I'm getting ready to go visit my fam back in MN and the Holiday's are sneaking up on us. I got a bit a of a late start on this card, but lucky for me this little lady was all colored up already so just just had to figure out what i was gonna do for everything else. BELIEVE ME, that is no small task for me. This one did come together relatively quickly, but it took FOR E-V-E-R for the stickles to dry! Thus, I was up til almost 4am this morning working one it! On a happy note I did get to use up some scraps...YAY!!
My card follows the current sketch at MDUC...I wasn't sure about it at first, but really enjoyed it in the end. I got the turn-page flower idea from a card I saw on my teamie Michelle's blog. Her card is gorgeous, you should go check it out(here)!
A close-up of Tilda. Sorry, I don't remember what colors I used for her. She is sitting on a cupcake doily.

Different views of the flowers...

Clear bobbly things from Hobby Lobby
Well, I think that about does it. If I've missed anything and you've got a question please feel free to ask and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Don't forget to stop by and see what the rest of the DT have made for you! I look forward to seeing your creations!
Have a great day!

2nd. 3 digi's
3rd. 2 digi's
How fantastic is that! I'm sure you know somone with a birthday coming up!
Here's what I've come up with...

I used one of Lexi's new Aliens called obo. These aliens are just perfect for little boys and I've got three of them so they sure will come in handy! My card follows a sketch from Friday Sketchers and the papers are some really old 3bugs in a rug...I think. This seems a little boring to me so I may add some stickles, idk, one son said I couldn't put sparkle on a boy card the other said I could...what do you think?

Well, I guess that's about it. Make sure you check out what the rest of the DT has come up with. Thanks for stopping by!

Creative Inspirations #45

Hello Everyone! It's time again for another challenge at Creative Inspirations. This week we have a theme of Halloween/Fall.
This weeks sponsors:
First we have are very own DT member Jenni she’s giving away 5 digi images to the lucky winner:Here’s bit about our Jenni: Cardmadfairy's Digital Stamps I have loved drawing since I was a child but then during the years when I was working full time and my 3 kids were growing up I hardly put pen or pencil to paper, until quite recently when I was given a set of drawing pencils for Christmas and I rediscovered my almost forgotten love! I decided to draw some images that I could use on my cards and so Cardmadfairy's Creations was born. I mostly enjoy drawing people but will happily try other things too and am definitely always open to new ideas and suggestions.
We also have “Some Odd Girl “ sponsoring us this week too. May I first introduce myself to you: My name is Kim Sonksen and I am the Events Coordinator for the Digital Stamp Manufacturer SOME ODD GIRL. The company is owned by Kristy Dalman, who designs all the images on the site.SOME ODD GIRL currently releases new images at least once a month and offers exclusive monthly freebies on their main site and during their Digi Days on SNR Card Universe and Paper Craft Planet.and they are offering the winner 3 Digi images of your choice from her store
Now, Here's what I came up with...

This adorable image is a Sugar Nellie digi. I got this cutie a while back cause I really wanted to enter a contest over there, but my life just keeps getting in the way...I"ll be so happy when sports are over in a few shorts weeks! Anyway, if you like it you can find it here. I"m also following there really complicated(lots of layers) sketch for their current challenge...wish me luck!! There's supposed to be a sentiment on the left, but I'm gonna put mine on the right when I decide what I'm using it for.
Here's a close up. She is of course colored with copics and i did my first multi-color feather-blending there with the orange and brown...don't think it turned out too bad. I kept the stickles light cause I really just wanted to accent her a bit. The flower is prima and I cute the leaves with my circut in the same patterned paper that's on the bottom.

Commissioned Wedding Card

My first commissioned card! I was soooo afraid it was going to be a let down! I wanted to call and ask her so many questions, do any of you feel that way? I felt though that I needed to be able to figure it out for myself if I'm going try and make a habit of this.
So, here is what I came up with...

I got this adorable LOTV stamp from my dear friend Loz. Thanks again Loz, you are such a sweetheart! Anyway, I didn't have much to go on for this card just that it was to be a traditional wedding and the couple had brown hair. EEEEkkkk! Where to begin!!! I scoured my papers...there are many...then I remembered this stack(g.c.d. Ella Blue) that may be perfect!! I saw this particular paper and fell in love!! However, IMP they're weren't any other papers in the stack that REALLY went with it so I had to work something out! Luckily I had some pewter cardstock that was perfect and I could just layer the one DP, YAY!
Here's a little closer look at the couple. He is colored in copics w:7,5,3,1 then all over that with C1. W was a might too brown and C was just a bit too gray I found this combo perfect!! I out lined her dress in v91 and the flowers were colored with v99,95,93,&91. I used Frosted lace stickles on the back of her dress and around the flowers. I could've blinged it out a bit more, but I liked this one a bit understated...I think it's a nice simply elegant card.
Well that's it for now. I've got more in the works and DT posts coming up in the coming days so check back soon.
Thanks for stopping by! Happy crafting!
Have a great day!

No sketches or anything this time around, I did it all by my lonesome...haven't done that in a while, lol. I originally had some other papers in mind, but they were kind of dark and I thought to myself shouldn't this cheer someone up? So, I searched out and found some brighter colors and it's growing on me. Well, that's it for me today!
